We develop a latent class modeling approach for joint analysis of high-dimensional semicontinuous biomarker data and a binary disease outcome. Latent Class Analysis (LCA) was used to analyze patterns of witnessed community violence among the participants. Hispanic college students (N = 436) from Miami participated in the In K. Marín (Eds.), Acculturation: Advances in theory, measurement, and applied research (pp. To determine the underlying causes that were more likely to lead to PMV, we applied LCA to group separate co-morbidity diagnoses into no more than 10 clusters of in-patients who had undergone PMV. In applying the proposed approach to an epidemiological study that examined the relationship between environmental polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) exposure and the risk of endometriosis, we identified a highly significant overall effect of PCB concentrations on the risk of endometriosis. Washington, DC: American Psychological Association. Next, the researchers applied latent class growth analysis to estimate the smoking trajectory for each individual. To explore the heterogeneity of APED use patterns, the authors subjected data on use patterns to (a) latent class analysis (LCA), (b) latent trait analysis (LTA), and (c) factor mixture analysis to determine the best model of APED use. In addition to standard multinomial logit models, mixed and latent class logit models are used to analyze the data from our stated choice experiment. The authors examined the extent to which Berry's (1997) acculturation orientation categories--assimilation, integration, separation, and marginalization--would emerge from a latent class analysis of continuous acculturation indices. Applying latent class factor models to attribute data(with ordinal and categorical scales) is an absolutely delightful exercise once the results are compared to traditional factor analysis. It contains articles about statistical models, classification, cluster analysis, multidimensional scaling, multivariate analysis, latent variables, knowledge extraction from temporal data, financial and economic applications, and missing values. We applied latent class analysis to measures of affection and conflict in 2,698 older parent–child relationships in 6 developed nations: England, Germany, Israel, Norway, Spain, and the United States (Southern California).
